The Librarian's Love Life

THREE FAMILIES, TWO PASSIONATE, AND A FIGHT AGAINST BIGOTRY

When Dean, a debonair university librarian and heir to one of Curaçao’s most illustrious families, meets Vincent, a brilliant and sexy PhD scholar from a working-class background, their worlds tilt off their axes. What begins as an unexpected spark soon becomes a powerful force neither man can ignore.

But love, for both, is tangled in pain.

Dean is trapped in a marriage defined by psychological abuse and Vincent is suffering under the stern religious condemnation of his grandparents.

From an elite university in London to the sun-soaked beauty of the Dutch Caribbean and the seductive romance of Paris, Dean and Vincent discover the life they could build together: a future devoted to helping disadvantaged school kids find hope.

About the Author

A Life Lived in Stories

Crime Thriller · M/M Romance · Black British Fiction

Martin of London. Black, British, Gay, and over fifty. I write from the inside — not as an observer, but as a man who has lived every word. My novels aren’t speculation. They are the architecture of a life built across three marriages, two continents of experience, and fifty years of navigating what it means to be a Black Gay man in Britain.

“I am an Own Voices storyteller. This generation deserves writers who speak from authentic selfhood — and that is what I offer.”

I began my professional career writing for the theatre, then short stories, before arriving at my true calling — Crime and Romance novels. My passion for these genres was forged through film, literature, and a relentless curiosity about the psychology of desire.

That curiosity took me to university to study Visual Arts (BA Hons), Film Theory & Production (Masters), and then PhD research into mythology and race in cinema. I have taught Creative Writing, Cultural Studies, Film Theory, and Drama Studies as a Professor.

I write for those who have been unseen. For Black Gay men over 40 who feel invisible. For young LGBTQ+ readers discovering their story. For academics in Queer Studies and Caribbean Literature. For anyone who has ever loved someone they weren’t supposed to.

At fifty, Michael thought his life was over. In his mid-thirties, David wanted his life to begin. After these fathers divorce, they meet at a support group and fall spiritually and passionately in love. Their romance forces them to fight for the love of their children and battle against bigots who refuse to understand their lives as Italian and Black British fathers who love both ways.

As a widowed, loving mother, Donna is still telling her grown-up son Aaron who to go out with. In return, Aaron tells Donna that he’ll do that – IF she agrees to go out with suitors he finds for her. That break of Jewish tradition shocks everyone. What follows is a disruptive romance, filled with admirers who love Aaron, and men who fall madly in love with Donna.

Sir Albert Collins is England’s greatest Black Shakespearean actor who has been offered the starring role of Othello on Broadway, but he fears that he’ll be killed by cops in America, so he’s reluctant to go. Dominic Harris is a successful Black British sales manager who has to fight to stop his vicious boss from sending him to America where he hopes Dominic will be killed by the cops.

From Cambridge to London Business School, William has built an enviable life as a financial kingpin and admired fashion influencer, To fuel his rising empire, he hires Luke, an Oxford graduate with an uncanny knack of curating content. But when William’s best friend is murdered, suspicion falls on Luke – whose dangerous attraction toward William hints at tormented, hidden desires.

Mission Statement

"I write from a place of authentic selfhood — as a Black, British, Gay man over fifty, giving voice to experiences this world too rarely tells."

My work offers Intersectional Allyship — readers aren’t just buying a novel, they are gaining
access to a writer who is part of the community they serve. A monthly Zoom community. A
voice that listens. A safe space where Black Gay men, LGBTQ+ readers, and allies can
gather, share, and be heard. I am not an outsider looking in. I am the story.

Community & Connection

More Than Books — A Place to Belong

The greatest challenge facing Black Gay men over 45 is isolation. I have read widely about this, I have lived parts of it, and I refuse to let it stand unchallenged.

Through this website, I offer more than novels. I offer a monthly Zoom gathering — a space where men can talk about what they love to read, what it means to be a Gay person of colour today, and find the comfort of a community that understands them.

You are not alone. Your stories matter. And I want to hear them.
